As long as I can leave a comment then all of your hard work has been worthwhile. Nice geese. Saw the first gosslings o’ spring around here Sunday.

How do you like TextPattern so far? I’m looking at that or Life Type for our blog, so I’d be interested in your impressions. And did you have any trouble importing your old posts?

I like it. I have it installed locally so I had a chance to play with it before making a final decision. Life Type was another one that I looked at. (I have quite a few CMS installed locally.)
Our professional site (sidebar link) uses CMS Made Simple. It’s not suitable for a blogging platform but is a nice CMS for managing content on a site.
One of the things that tipped in the favour of TextPattern was the shortcut menu in the admin panel which has all of the admin pages on it.
The 2 thing sthat I should have done before importing was add the categories (links, posts, etc.) to TP that I had in WP and purging the spam from the database. Everything came in uncategorized.A nd I had about 3000 spam to delete.
Otherwise the import was slick. It retrieved the data directly from the database.

now we’ve got a site on textpattern that I’ve been desperate to transfer to wordpress as I just can’t get my head around using it. That was nearly two years ago mind, I’m guessing you’d say it’s worth having another look now?

Billi-Jean – Thanks. It’s good to be back :)
Jax – I’m using version 4.0. I’m not sure how much has changed. It’s quite different from wordpress and took a bit of getting used to. It has a tag builder built in so adding things to the sidebar wasn’t too difficult but did involve a bit of trial and error.
